Government |
|
Government Structure: The Czech Republic is headed by a Prime Minister who is appointed by a President who since 2013 is a public elected official (compared to elected by the senate pre-2013). Presidents retain very little power compared to Prime Ministers who set domestic and foreign policy as well as appoint government ministers. The Czech Republic has a functioning senate that was based off a similar design as the United States Senate and it is populated with 81 members from several differing parties. Formally, the Czech Republic is known as a Multi party Parliamentary representative democracy.
The Czech Republic is a member of the European Union (EU), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) |
